Gather Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how DMT Entertainments handles information in Gather, a party game app for local and optional online play.
Data We Collect
Gather does not require users to create an account. The app may process player nicknames, room codes, room settings, gameplay state, app interactions, purchase status, subscription status, AI credit usage, and app-generated identifiers.
Local app settings, local player lists, consent state, Community Rules acceptance, game preferences, custom question drafts, and host approval status may be stored on the user's device.
Custom Questions, Suggestions, and Feedback
Custom questions start as local drafts and do not enter local play until the host explicitly approves them. Local drafts and approvals stay on the device unless the host separately chooses Suggest to Gather.
When a host suggests a question, Gather may process the question text, game and intensity metadata, an app-generated submitter identifier, and the accepted Community Rules version. The server also derives and stores a pseudonymous network identifier (a truncated keyed hash of the connection IP address) with every suggestion to prevent abuse, even when an app-generated identifier is supplied. Reports and source blocks use that network identifier to deduplicate complaints. Raw IP addresses are not stored in these moderation records. Network identifiers are retained with moderation records and temporary abuse blocks. Suggestions are checked by moderation before publication. Moderation decisions and reports may be retained long enough to operate the review, safety, and appeal process.
If a user chooses Send Feedback on the Support screen, Gather may process the message text, its bug or idea category, the app version and platform, and the same app-generated submitter identifier. Messages that contain emails, phone numbers, or street addresses are rejected. Feedback is used to fix problems and plan improvements, and can be deleted on request through the support page.
Online Rooms
If users choose to use online rooms, player nicknames, room codes, room settings, and game state may be sent to Gather's server so participants can join and play together. Users can use nicknames instead of real names.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Gather may offer optional purchases, subscriptions, or AI prompt credits. Purchases are processed through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. Gather does not receive full payment card details. RevenueCat and Google Play may process transaction records, purchase status, subscription status, and app-generated customer identifiers to provide paid features and prevent fraud.
Paid credits use a random private credential kept in secure device storage and sent only to Gather to open the credit account. Its public hashed identifier is shared with RevenueCat for purchase attribution. Reset Local Data resets gameplay data without deleting this credential. Uninstalling the app or clearing secure storage can remove it; contact support for credit recovery before doing so. Store purchase restoration alone does not recover a consumable credit balance on another device.
AI Prompt Generation
If users choose to use AI prompt generation, Gather may send game settings, selected options, and prompt-generation requests to Gather's server and an AI provider. Users should not enter sensitive personal information into AI prompt requests.
How We Use Data
Data is used to provide app functionality, including local gameplay, optional online rooms, question-suggestion moderation, report handling, feedback review, paid feature access, subscription checks, purchase restoration, credit balances, AI prompt generation, security, fraud prevention, and compliance.
Sharing
Gather may share limited data with service providers needed to run the app, including hosting providers, RevenueCat, Google Play Billing, and AI providers. Gather does not sell user data.
Security
Data sent between the app, Gather's server, and third-party services is transmitted using encrypted connections where supported. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but Gather uses reasonable safeguards for the data it processes.
Retention and Deletion
Local app data can be deleted from the app settings or by uninstalling the app. Server-side room data is retained only as needed to provide online room functionality and maintenance. Purchase and subscription records may be retained by Google Play, RevenueCat, or DMT Entertainments as required for billing, fraud prevention, tax, legal, platform compliance, or support.
Users can request deletion of server-side Gather data by following the instructions on the Data Deletion Requests page.
Children
Gather is not designed for children under 13. Optional After Party content is behind an 18+ confirmation.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, platform, or service requirements change. The updated policy will be posted on this page.
